About the University

The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University is the first of its kind Affiliated Law University in the Country established by the State of Tamil Nadu in 1997 in Chennai. The School of Excellence in Law established by the University at its campus in 2002 has been modeled on the lines of other National Law Schools in the country.

The Department of Human Rights and Duties Education of the School of Excellence in Law is organizing a National Webinar on ‘Efficacy of PIL Mechanism, Section 482 of CrPC and Art. 226 of the Constitution in the Process of Promoting Human Rights, on the 16th Day of June 2021.

The webinar aims to provide insights into the role of the judiciary in laying down standards for preserving and promoting human rights.

About the Keynote Speaker

Retd. Justice S Nagamuthu is a former Judge of the Madras High Court and is currently serving as Senior Counsel of the Supreme Court of India. He has practiced for more than 25 years in Madras High Court and in various district courts. He has presided over a number of high-profile cases and is a pioneer of human rights. He is the first judge to be elevated to the post from among lawyers practicing in Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court in 2009 and has served as judge of Madras High Court for over a decade.
